Payson Onion Days Bake-off

Bake up your family favorites or create a new recipe just for our Onion Days Competition!!!

Only in its second year, we've expanded our categories to include Pies. Other categories include various kinds of Bread, Rolls, and Muffins, and Junior Division categories of Brownies and Cookies. Bring your entries, then watch the Onion Days Parade while the judging takes place. There will be lots of awards including cash, gift certificates and ribbons. Open for public viewing and voting from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Judging from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Awards will be given out in front of the Library on Main Street at 4:30 p.m.
Remove entries by 5:30 p.m.

Entry Fee: $5.00 per item with entry form received by August 31, 2009. Persons submitting forms after that date must pay an additional $3.00 late fee. We encourage you to send or bring your entry forms and fees by the due date so that we can have all the necessary paperwork in a packet ready for you at the competition.
General Rules: 1. Contestants may participate in one or more categories.

2. All entries must be prepared and baked at home “from scratch.” No prepared mixes, doughs, frostings, fillings or pie crusts are allowed.

3. All entries must be presented decorated.

4. All entries will be judged and then will be open for the public to judge.

5. Contestants are encouraged to provide the judges and committee with recipes of their entries.  Recipes should be typed or printed plainly on an 8 1/2”x11” sheet of paper and accompany their baked goods when checking in on September 5th.  The recipe should include a complete ingredient list with accurate measurements, instructions for preparation and baking including temperatures and time.  If a recipe cannot be provided (i.e. secret family recipe), a list of all ingredients must be provided in its place.

6. Contestants are asked to exercise care in cleanliness and good sanitation practices when preparing their entries.

7. Entries must be picked up by 5:30 P.M.  Any items not picked up will be disposed of at the discretion of the Bake Off Committee.

8. Prizes will consist of Cash, Medals, Ribbons.

9. The decision of the judges shall be final.
